Gladstone West State School has been established since 1966 and has grown to an enrolment of 640 students. The prep year was introduced in 2007, starting with two classes and growing to five prep classes in 2012.

The school operates an enrolment management plan which was established in consideration of future industrial development within the Gladstone geographical area and the associated population growth that would occur. While growth is inevitable Gladstone West State School strives to ensure that this is positive and beneficial. The school is committed to providing 21st century learning in a safe, challenging and welcoming environment.

The school’s motto ‘assist others’ shows a dedication to active citizenship. The students and staff of Gladstone West State School strive to be responsible, respectful and safe. They understand that these goals are dependent on every member of the school community acting responsibly, respectfully and safely in consideration of each other.

Gladstone West State School celebrates achievement. Student achievements in academic, behavioural, sporting and cultural endeavours are celebrated on assemblies, class and school newsletters and acknowledged through commendations and certificates.
